1000 × 550People with active lifestyles will love the new 2021 Bronco Sport, a small but capable SUV that has affectionately been dubbed the “Baby Bronco.” When you need an SUV that can tackle muddy back roads, sandy dunes, and even ford water to reach those places you want to explore, the Bronco Sport has your back. As soon as you break camp, the Bronco Sport slips back into city living for daily driving. Several innovative and clever features lean into a culture of off-roaders and adventurers, but it also offers more refined options with packages that dress up the interior. As your Ford Bronco Sport dealer, Gengras Ford has all the details on each specialized trim.

Off-Road Ready

Unlike most other crossover SUVs, the Bronco Sport has off-road chops that can handle the rough terrain you need to conquer so you can climb that mountain, surf that big wave, or bike that backwoods trail. Four-wheel drive is standard on all trims, which means you don’t have to wonder if your wheels will move through the mud or snow. G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) modes and the H.O.S.S. (High-Performance Off-Road, Stability, Suspension) system provides extra maneuvering ability that can dial into the type of terrain you’re exploring. Each of these standard features makes it possible to go places most road-oriented SUVs can’t go, and the Badlands trim takes it up a higher notch.

The four-wheel drive system on the Badlands trim gains a twin-clutch rear drive unit that acts like a rear-wheel locking differential to give better traction to the rear axle. A raised height for this trim gives the Badlands 8.8 inches of ground clearance, and the addition of steel bash plates protects the underbody from scraping rocks or debris in rough terrain. Even streams can’t stop the Badlands, with the ability to ford up to 23.6 inches of water and camera angles that provide views of the exterior environment so you can see obstacles you need to avoid. Ford thoughtfully provides a camera washer so the splashing mud won’t ruin your ability to view the trail ahead. Available trail control then takes cruise control to the next level by allowing you to focus on the route without having to focus on your speed, a feature that manages the slow speeds you need for trail riding.

Mobile Base Camp

Once you reach that remote destination you want to explore, your Ford Bronco Sport transforms into a mobile base camp with a number of simple features and after-market supplies. To bring all your essential gear, Ford has partnered with Yakima to outfit your Bronco Sport with all the optional cargo carriers for anything you need in the outdoors. From bike racks that secure on the back end to roof racks that act like baskets, you can bring your snowboards and skis or load your kayaks on the roof. Everything goes, and then once you park, you can open the rear trunk area to act as your kitchen with the configurable cargo space and available fold-out table. In the hatch, Ford even places a handy bottle-opener so you can kick back with a beverage and enjoy the view.

The roof is built with the capability to hold up to 600 pounds when parked, and an after-market tent from Yakima easily opens up on the roof to provide a little extra security from curious wildlife in the night. Climb up using the ladder, and sleep soundly in safety off the ground. To keep cooler on hot days, the available awning from Yakima slides out from the roof rack to offer shade or even shelter from the rain. At night, lights in the liftgate brighten your kitchen and cargo organizer so you can still prep meals and pack up after a long day of adventuring. When the trunk is packed, but you still need access to supplies, the hatch window lifts without having to open the whole back end. Grab what you need without needing to unpack or open the window to accommodate longer items you want inside.

Tech Keeps You Connected Anywhere

It can be a challenge to stay connected when you head to those remote places, but FordPass Connect is standard on all trims of the 2021 Bronco Sport, and it has an available 4G hotspot. Up to ten devices can use the hotspot at once, and it works up to 50 feet away from your Bronco Sport. Access it from the eight-inch touchscreen in the center stack, guided by the intuitive SYNC 3 interface. Here you also find the standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to allow your smartphone to connect with your Bronco Sport’s infotainment system. Additional features available through FordPass Connect can include remote starting, a vehicle finder, and remotely checking your vehicle’s fuel and status from anywhere.

Available Sirius XM radio can also offer satellite navigation and traffic data for certain trims, which then allows your Bronco Sport to keep track of where your route takes you. When it’s time to return home, the Breadcrumb Navigation can take you in reverse so you can retrace your route. Through this same system, you can access the available voice-activated navigation system so you can speak your directions while you drive instead of having to stop and program it by hand. With available wireless charging, you can do away with having to keep your phone cord in the vehicle, too. If you choose the Badlands trim, you can upgrade the whole audio system to the premium Bang and Olufsen sound quality that will elevate the entertainment on your road trips.

Safety On and Off the Road

Accidents happen, so Ford provides safety features to keep passengers safe. All 2021 Bronco Sports come equipped with advanced airbags that deploy from every side of the vehicle when triggered by an impact, but there is much more the Bronco does to keep you safe. A post-crash alert system sounds the horn and flashes the lights to alert other motorists that your vehicle is disabled, and the personal safety system prevents unnecessary injuries to the front seat occupants by reducing the impact of the airbags when deployed.

Driver-assisted safety features add extra peace of mind with the standard Ford CoPilot 360 system. Features like the Blind-Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert can keep an eye on the traffic you can’t see, and the Lane-Keeping System actively steers you back in your lane if you drift. Pre-Collision Assist scans ahead for vehicles that may be in your path and automatically brakes if a crash is imminent. Auto High-Beam Headlamps dim for oncoming traffic, so you won’t have to remember. For upper trims, Ford CoPilot Assist Plus adds more safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go and Lane Centering to make highway travel simpler. And Evasive Steering Assist helps you avoid accidents using more active technology.
