How Does Ford BlueCruise Hands-Free Driving Work?

Automotive technology has improved by leaps and bounds in the last decade – with hands-free and automated driving technology as a primary focus. The Ford brand continues to upgrade technology in its lineup and Ford BlueCruise may be the highlight. More and more Ford cars, trucks and SUVs are expected to add the hands-free driving technology in the future and many drivers want to know – how does Ford BlueCruise hands-free driving work?

What Is Ford BlueCruise Hands-Free Driving Technology?

Ford BlueCruise will build on the current Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go System that is a part of the Ford Active Drive Assist platform. Adaptive Cruise Control allows drivers to set a speed and a following distance on the highway and the innovative system will adjust your speed to maintain that distance and keep you safe on the road.

The Ford BlueCruise system builds on that technology and adds a true hands-free experience on select highways in the United States. Ford BlueCruise has the capability to maintain your position and speed within a lane on the highway with a suite of exterior cameras and sensors – which allow you to enjoy a safe, comfortable and hands-free ride. To ensure that you are still alert when behind the wheel, Ford BlueCruise employs a driver-facing camera.
